About Us

Oana D. Johnson is a native of Targoviste, Dâmbovița, Romania, but she followed her heart and passion to Charleston, South Carolina where she makes her home with her husband, Mark and their teenage son.


After graduating with a Masters in Math Education from the University of Bucharest, School of Mathematics, Oana pursued her law degree from Valachia University, School of Law in Targoviste, Romania.


While in graduate and law school, Oana worked at the Baylor University Medical Center in Bucharest, Romania as a project coordinator for all of Baylor’s medical programs in Romania. She met her husband, Mark, while serving as a translator for him during a mission trip where he was repairing schools and orphanages for Romania’s children.


Oana immigrated to Charleston in 1998 when she married Mark. Upon arrival, Oana immediately pursued her passion for the law working first as a litigation paralegal for Ness, Motley, Loadholdt, Richardson and Poole and then for George J. Kefalos, PA.


After nine years working as a paralegal, Oana returned to school to obtain her American Juris Doctor while continuing to work for George J. Kefalos, PA. She graduated from the Charleston School of Law in 2011.


Upon being admitted to the South Carolina bar, Oana worked for her long-time mentor and friend, George. J. Kefalos before launching her own firm.


Throughout her legal career, Oana has focused on complex insurance and commercial litigation helping individuals and small businesses receive the benefits of their bargains, handling a full range of cases including insurance coverage disputes, bad faith insurance and fraud, long term disability benefit claims, short term disability benefit claims, life insurance claims, agent liability cases, commercial insurance disputes, ERISA claims, business litigation, and serious personal injury claims.



Oana is an active member of the James Island Soccer Club Board as well as the First Scots Presbyterian Church.
